Tunnels: Onnens Motorway A5

Case study: SOFO, ADAM System

Cut and cover tunnel
Concrete monitoring

Project Description

Summary: The cut and cover tunnel monitoring during concrete setting, geotecnical loads ans long-term

Clients: Vaud Canton

Place: Vaud Canton (Switzerland)

Period: 2000  - 2003

Installation: De Cerenville G?technique,Smartec

Structure's short description: The cross-section of the tunnel consists of two concrete vaults. The length of the tunnel is 1230 m.

Aim of monitoring: The aim of the monitoring was to increase knowledge on the vaults behaviour during the outer filling loads application. 30 sensors were installed on one characteristic section. Fiber optic sensors are integrated in the global concept together with inclinometers, thermometers, load cells, piezometer cells and geometric measurement.

Number of sensor: 6

Main Results: Behaviour and stabilization of the cut and cover tunnel has been verified at each phases of the filling.
