GeoStructures: Val Rovana

Case study: SOFO System

Anchor Monitoring
Deformation measurement of the free and anchored parts

Project Description

Summary: Tendons monitoring, rock movement monitoring, sensor survival testing

Clients: VSL

Place: Ticino Canton (Switzerland)

Period: 1994  - N/A

Installation: IMAC-EPFL / IMM SA

Structure's short description: Anchors were used to retain columns supporting a mountain road.

Aim of monitoring: SOFO sensors were installed to monitor the deformations of the free and anchored part of the tendons.

Number of sensor: 4

Main Results: This test demonstrated the feasibility of installing SOFO sensors in anchors.
