Case study: SOFO, ADAM System

Foundation Monitoring
Concrete slab

Project Description

Summary: Concrete slab foundation monitoring during and after concrete setting

Clients: N/A

Place: Wankdorf stadium - Bern (Switzerland)

Period: 2001  - N/A

Installation: Smartec

Structure's short description: A zone of the new stadium base slab (60 cm high) has been equipped with 10 SOFO standard sensors and 6 thermocouples. The concrete base slab has been poured in two phases (30 cm+30cm).The sensors have been installed in both setting layers, thermocouple has permit to identify the thermal induced strains.

Aim of monitoring: Deformations during concrete setting Monitoring of the early age shrinkage Temperature during and after the concrete setting Shrinkage deformations Long-term evaluation of deformations

Number of sensor: 10

Main Results: The results have helped identifiying optimal concrete setting timing and relation with ambience temperature. Have a look to the wankdorf stadium webcam : http://www.wankdorf-stadion.ch/
